Full home renovation & large rear extension
South Devon
This project transformed a dated three-bedroom home with a large rear extension and full refurbishment, improving space, functionality, and energy efficiency.
The original kitchen was cramped with multiple doors. As part of the extension, we created a spacious open-plan kitchen, dining, and living area by removing an internal wall and blocking up an unused side doorway. The new kitchen features built-in appliances and sleek white Corian worktops for a seamless finish.
Upstairs, we added a new family bathroom and adjusted the joist layout to improve head height around the stairs. The solid staircase wall was replaced with white spindles, allowing more light into the hallway.
The full-width rear extension included two large roof lanterns, maximising natural light. To maximise space, we replaced three small dormers with a single large dormer, creating extra space in each of the three up-stairs bedrooms. With the new extension providing a large open plan lounge the old lounge was made into a fourth bedroom with an ensuite. French doors were installed to open onto a small decked area, making the most of the evening sun.
New energy-efficient windows, a modern front extension with a composite door, and a full plumbing and electrical upgrade, including a new combi boiler, completed the transformation.
The result is a stylish, practical home tailored to modern family life.
