Modernising a bungalow with structural alterations
Poole, Dorset.
This project was completed in two stages: we tackled the lounge area first, along with related improvements, and then returned to install the new bedroom windows.
Inspired by a home design magazine, our clients shared their vision of replacing a single, offset window with a set of French doors, balancing the space by creating a matching, large opening. To achieve this, we consulted with our suppliers to custom-make a picture window tailored to their space. While they loved the idea of an expansive view, they preferred a single set of French doors. The final solution: a large, beautifully crafted picture window alongside the French doors, bringing in natural light and a more balanced layout. We opted for aluminium in a soft grey, inside and out, adding a stylishly modern touch. The room was finished with remote-controlled electric blinds, housed neatly for a minimalist, streamlined look.
During the lounge transformation, we also upgraded the front and back doors. Replacing the original wooden doors with aluminium versions improved both security and aesthetics. These new, fully glazed doors flood the hallway with natural light, creating an inviting entrance.
A few weeks later, we returned to replace the bedroom windows with matching aluminium frames, offering the same energy-efficient benefits as those in the lounge. To add character to the property’s exterior, we also installed cement cladding along the front of this charming bungalow.
